A Lovely Letter From Our Guest
Fitted with the best of fixtures and technology used across the hospitality industry, The Residency Hotels are the best-in-class in Tamil Nadu. Although, truth be told, we are much more proud of the quality service our team unfailing provides every day of the week. When our patrons take the time to appreciate our efforts, we know we’ve truly hit the nail on the head by anticipating and satisfying their every need.
Here’s what Mr. Richard Fosmoen from USA has to say on his stay at The Residency Towers Chennai.
If you are fortunate enough to travel to Chennai, India, The Residency Towers needs to be #1 on your list of places to stay.
The property offers extreme luxury and service wrapped in some of the most state-of-the-art rooms I have ever seen. Multiple attendants and service personnel greet you in this very safe and secure hotel (cars actually must go through a security check upon entering the gated property). Upon entering, you are exposed to a magnificent two-story lobby. The service level of the staff is up to the highest standards that you would expect of a hotel at this level. Bags are brought to your room and can even be unpacked if you wish.

The Wow Factor
The beauty of this hotel is that it offers the best of all worlds. Not only are you surrounded by rich and opulent decor, but upon entering your room, the modern world emerges in an extremely well-done fashion. Ornate multi-colored marble floors and rich hardwoods in the lobby give way to modern rooms which are open, light, and conforming to the principles of Feng Shui. The generously sized rooms are refreshing and relaxing.
Hollywood Twin Room
But, there’s more! Modern, clean design is enhanced by amazing, almost seamless technology. Upon placing your room card in the slot, the room comes to life. Lights are turned on to their preset levels, electronic curtains open both the drapes and blinds, TV’s are returned to their previous channel and volume while the temperature is also automatically set.
Beside your bed resides your “Command” center. A docked iPad (yes, a real iPad) is your gateway for all your room controls and much, much more. In addition to controlling all the basic room functions (Lights, Blinds, TV and Climate) the hotel has upped the game by including a multitude of options and services integrated seamlessly within the app.
Every room is equipped with a Nespresso Machine, for a fresh cuppa, any time of the day
Services, food, entertainment, television and communications are all easily accessible on the iPad. Need an espresso capsule (more later), a power adaptor, iron and ironing board, or ice? It’s all just a simple click in the app. Dinner? View the various menus and make a reservation with a single click. The app even includes the option for you to log into your Netflix or Amazon Prime account and stream directly to the large screen television. A great touch for those of us who can’t miss their favorite shows.
I am just scratching the surface of the options that the system offers. It is truly impressive. Not an iPad kind of person? No worries, there are still regular light switches and a cordless phone. As if that were not enough, the property has gone above and beyond in equipping each roomwith Nespresso machines with various flavours of espresso, as well as an assortment of teas. Even more amazing is, upon entering the restroom the fully automatic, two-person programmable Toto toilet automatically raises the seat and lights up. An incredibly nice, unexpected touch only found in the most modern, high-end homes.
Bathroom at The Suite Room
Of course at this level it goes without saying that the rooms also include full Egyptian Cotton bedding and a vast assortment of toiletries so that one need never call the front desk for something they forgot.
If your trip happens to call for a business meeting or small gathering, consider getting a suite for your visit. The very, very large units are very well-designed to host smaller get-togethers with separate living, dining, buffet and a second bathroom. The sleeping quarters, the dressing room and the main bathroom can be completely hidden from your guests. It may well be worth the extra cost if you needed to get space anyway.

Drinks and Dining
Obviously get out and explore real India, but if you feel more like staying in The Residency offers a superb selection and variety of dining options. Three separate and unique restaurants cater to most individual’s tastes.
The Bike and Barrel offers traditional American and British fare in a very well-done re-creation of a traditional English Pub. It offers a full, almost American like large bar and seating. On weekends it also offers music and dancing.
Southern Aromas is a spectacular Indian restaurant and is actually considered to have some of the best Indian food in all of Chennai. Outstanding, unique selections and beautiful decor located off the main lobby at street level.
However, the one to absolutely NOT miss is The Crown. This amazing open air oasis is located on the rooftop on the 20th floor of the property. This gem offers spectacular views, warm breeze and tranquil ponds that will have you enjoying Chennai’s sights and sounds at their best. From seafood to steaks to Indian cuisine, the menu is diverse and the food delectable, especially for Americans that need a taste of home. If nothing else grab a cocktail there simply to enjoy the atmosphere and take advantage of photo opportunities.
Finally “Main Street” which is their catch all buffet and menu restaurant that offers a larger variety of food and beverages.
Breakfast is included with all stays and is served buffet-style as well as cooked-to-order at this location. The multitude of options will more than please most.
In addition, located in the lobby is “Bakers Corner”. A very quaint area loaded with chilled, beautifully decorated cakes, deserts and an amazing espresso machine. The hotel offers a dessert “Happy Hour” daily. Neat idea!
In addition to amazing decor, rooms and cuisine, the hotel also offers a stunning 3rd floor pool and full service spa. Large covered or uncovered sun lounges are available to rest and relax in the beautiful Indian weather. Food and beverage service is available at your wish. Full body massages, facials, pedicures and more are available at the spa for very reasonable rates. Treat yourself!
If you need meetings or business services, the hotel has just completed renovation on a state-of-the-art business center that offers everything from full-fledged board rooms to individual office cubicles for your working and communication needs.
Banquet and Meeting Facilities
As stated before, even the most timid guest will feel very safe and secure at the property. Not to imply by any means that the area or city is unsafe because it is not. The walled and gated property is centrally-located and offers guests many shopping, exploring and dining options. The main street is almost Chicago Miracle Mile-ish (not quite but almost) and offers both Americanized and traditional Indian shops. The sidewalks are wide and open. You will pay slightly more here than in “Real” India for souvenirs and such but that is expected due to the area. Venture further in town to experience the real thing.
The room portion of this review is based on the hotels’ newly renovated rooms/floors of the property. At the time of this writing only about 20% of the hotel has been converted.
Also, I have not been compensated or upgraded in any way for writing this. I am an American who just luckily happened across this hotel and want to make sure others have as pleasant a stay in India as I have.
This review has been edited to deliver a better reading experience. The essence of feedback. We are thankful for the kind words, and hope to continue to deliver hospitality with heart to all our guests.
