Vedanthangal
Bird Sanctuary: (100
Km) this Sanctuary
is an important breeding ground for water birds: cormorants,
egrets, herons, ibis, spoon-bills, storks, grebes
and pelicans all migrate here from October to March.
At the height of the breeding season (December
and January) there
can be up to 30,000 birds. |
Pondicherry: (140
Km) Pondichery, the former
French colony settled in the early 18th century, is a
charming coastal town with a few enduring pockets of French
Culture, and an ashram.

Pondichery, was opened as an experimental international
community, coming from the vision of Sri Aurobindo
